Psalm 2 good news bible
Here is Psalm 2 in the Good News Bible (GNB):
Psalm 2
Why the Nations Rage
1 Why do the nations rebel and the peoples plot in secret? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers gather together, against the Lord and against his anointed one.
3 "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their yoke."
4 But the one who sits in heaven laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.
5 Then he speaks in his anger, and scatters them in his wrath.
6 "But I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."
7 "Let him rule from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth."
8 The kings of the earth may plot, but the Lord himself has planned.
9 Those who rebel against him will be punished, and those who are angry with him will be destroyed.
10 But as for me, I will always praise the Lord; I will praise him as long as I live.
11 My hands will be lifted in prayer, and I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
12 May this be the reward for my suffering, the blessing that comes from the Lord.
13 And may he be my salvation, the one who gives me hope.
14 But as for you, you will be crushed, like a potter's jar that is smashed to pieces.
15 That is what will happen to you, you who plot against the Lord.
16 The Lord will rule over all the earth, and he will rule forever and ever.
17 The scepter of the wicked will not remain, nor will the rulers of the wicked keep their power.
18 But the Lord will rule over all the earth, and he will rule forever and ever.
This psalm is a powerful declaration of God's sovereignty and the futility of human rebellion against him. It is a call to worship and a reminder of God's ultimate victory over all that is evil.
