Psalm 140

A prayer for protection

  1. Rescue me, O Lord, from evil people. Protect me from those who are violent,
  2. who plan to trip me up and destroy my life.
  3. They have set traps for me, and I am trapped. They have no regard for God or for man.
  4. Look at them, O Lord, and see how they are wicked. Take note of how they are cruel and deceitful.
  5. But my God is my protector. He is the God of my mercy.
  6. God, you are my hope. You are my trust. You are my God, and I will praise you.
  7. You are my protector and my shield. You are my hope, O God, my great hope.
  8. I will cry out to God, and he will hear me. He will rescue me from those who are evil,
  9. for he is my protector and my shield. My God is my hope, and I will praise him.
  10. God, you are my protector and my shield. You are my hope, O God, my great hope.
