Psalm 13

A Prayer for Help

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

2 How long must I struggle with misery? How long will my enemies have the upper hand?

3 But I have trusted in your unfailing love. I will sing the Lord's song, for he has given me new life.

4 I will trust and not be afraid. I will praise you, my God, and praise your name.

5 You are my God, and I will praise you. You are my God, and I will exalt you.

6 I will trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have seen my tears.

7 Any day now my enemy will be crushed; the wicked will be destroyed.

8 But I will trust in your unfailing love. I will praise you more and more.

This psalm is a prayer for help and deliverance from trouble and oppression. The psalmist is crying out to God, asking how long he will have to suffer and wait for God's help. But despite his struggles, he chooses to trust in God's unfailing love and promises to praise and exalt God's name.
