Psalm 125 good news bible

Here is Psalm 125 in the Good News Bible (GNB):

Psalm 125

  1. Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken and will stand forever.
  2. Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.
  3. The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil.
  4. Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, to those who are pure in heart.
  5. But those who turn to crooked ways the Lord will banish with the evildoers.
  6. Peace be on Israel!

In this psalm, the writer is expressing confidence in God's protection and guidance. The image of Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken, is used to describe those who trust in the Lord. The psalmist also expresses the idea that God surrounds his people, just as the mountains surround Jerusalem. The psalm concludes with a blessing on Israel, asking God to do good to those who are good and pure in heart.
