Psalm 122 good news bible
Here is Psalm 122 in the Good News Bible:
Prayer for Jerusalem
1 I was glad when they said to me, "Let's go to the Lord's house!" 2 Our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem. 3 Jerusalem is built like a city that is united. 4 That is where the tribes of the Lord go up to give thanks to his name. 5 There is the throne of the Lord, the throne of David. 6 My brothers and sisters, praise the Lord, all you people of Jerusalem! 7 Praise the Lord, you who are in his courts! 7 Praise the Lord, my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices. 8 Because you have said, "The Lord is good, he is our stronghold in times of trouble." 9 The Lord is God, and he has given us light. 10 Be united, you people of Jerusalem! May there be peace in your walls, peace in your streets! 11 May my brothers and sisters prosper, may they prosper like a field that has been planted. 12 May those who love you be like the sun rising in its strength. May those who are sad be like the rain that brings new life to the ground. 13 May all who love you be like the dew that falls on the grass. May all who love you be like the rain that brings new life to the ground. 14 May those who hate you be like the grass that withers and dies. May they be like the grass that is trampled underfoot. 15 Because of the Lord, who is good, who loves Jerusalem, 16 I will pray for you, saying, "May peace be within you, may prosperity follow you. 17 May those who love you be like the sun rising in its strength. May those who are sad be like the rain that brings new life to the ground. 18 May all who love you be like the dew that falls on the grass. May all who love you be like the rain that brings new life to the ground. 19 May those who hate you be like the grass that withers and dies. May they be like the grass that is trampled underfoot."
This psalm is a prayer for the city of Jerusalem, asking for peace, prosperity, and unity among its people. It expresses joy and gratitude for the opportunity to worship in the city and asks God to bless those who love and live in Jerusalem.
