Psalm 109 good news bible

Here is Psalm 109 in the Good News Bible (GNB):

Psalm 109

A prayer for deliverance from enemies

  1. O God, whom I praise, do not be silent.
  2. For wicked people are opening their mouths against me; they are speaking against me with lying tongues.
  3. They surround me with words of hatred, and attack me without a reason.
  4. My God, come quickly to help me.
  5. Make them fall by their own pride.
  6. Turn back their curse, which is against me.
  7. Make them be ashamed and dismayed.
  8. May those who seek my life be caught in their own traps.
  9. May the wicked fall into their own nets.
  10. Then I will rejoice in the Lord, and I will be happy in his salvation.
  11. My God, you have ordered your laws to be kept, and you have been kind to me.
  12. As for the wicked, you have put them down; you have destroyed all who go against you.
  13. You have done great things, O God, which I have not forgotten.
  14. You have made me wise and strong, and you have lifted me up.
  15. You have given me a wise heart, so that I can understand your laws.
  16. Your love is better than life; my lips will praise you.
  17. I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in your name.
  18. You have dealt with me in accordance with my righteousness; you have treated me with kindness because of my innocence.
  19. You have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice.
  20. You are my helper; do not turn away from me.
  21. Make them be ashamed and dismayed, but let me be glad and rejoice in your salvation.
  22. May those who seek my life be caught in their own traps, and may the wicked fall into their own nets.
  23. Then I will rejoice in the Lord, and I will be happy in his salvation.
