Proverbs 31 good news bible

Here is the Proverbs 31 passage from the Good News Bible (GNB):

"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth more than precious jewels.

Her husband trusts her without reserve, and brings her into his inner circle.

She earns the respect of her husband, and he enjoys a happy life with her.

She is the anchor of his home, and he is never afraid.

When he sits down to a meal, she has a feast prepared for him.

He has confidence in her, and lacks nothing.

She searches for wool and flax, and works with eager hands.

She is like the merchant ships, bringing food from afar.

She rises early in the morning, to give food to her family, and to make sure that a portion is set aside for her servants.

She is concerned about the welfare of her household, and treats her servants well.

Her husband is respected at the city gate, where the elders take their seats.

She makes a covering of tapestry for her bed, and fine linen for her curtain.

She is strong and responsible, and her husband's heart trusts her.

She is worthy of honor, and her husband's respect.

Her children rise up and call her blessed, and her husband praises her:

'Many women have done noble things, but you surpass them all.'

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.'"
