Here are the proverbs from Proverbs 3 in the Good News Bible:
Proverbs 3:1-12
- My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store up my commands in your heart.
- For they will be your guide through life, and wisdom will be yours.
- Don't forget, and don't turn away from the words of knowledge.
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don't rely on your own understanding.
- Recognize that the Lord will guide you and give you wisdom, and then you will live a long, good life.
- Don't be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
- This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
- Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.
- Then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
- Don't exploit the poor because they are poor, and don't crush the needy in court.
- For the Lord will defend the cause of the poor and give them justice.
- He will be their defender in court and give them their rights.
Proverbs 3:13-26
- Happy are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding.
- They will be given a good life, and they will live it to the full.
- They will be wise and will have a good reputation, and their wisdom will never be forgotten.
- Wisdom is more valuable than rubies, and nothing you can desire is more valuable than it.
- I will guide you along the right path, and I will help you follow it.
- Don't be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding, but must be controlled with bit and bridle.
- The wicked will be punished, but those who are righteous will be rewarded.
- My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands.
- Don't forget, and don't turn away from the words of my mouth.
- Put your hope in the Lord, and he will take care of you.
- You will be protected, and he will keep you safe.
- Then you will go to bed with a full stomach, and you will sleep soundly.
- You will not be afraid of anything, and you will not worry about anything.
- The Lord will be your guide, and he will give you wisdom, and he will protect you.
