Proverbs 23 good news bible
Here are the proverbs from Proverbs 23 in the Good News Bible:
Proverbs 23:1-3 Do not forget the instruction of your mother. Keep her words in your heart, For they will be a blessing to you. Bind them on your heart always, For they are your life.
Proverbs 23:4-5 Do not wear yourself out trying to get rich; be wise enough to avoid it. Why waste your money on food that does not give you strength?
Proverbs 23:6-8 Do not eat too much wine, or you will become drunk. Do not eat too much food, or you will become sick. Do not join those who drink too much wine, or they may forget what is right.
Proverbs 23:9-11 Do not speak to fools, for they will scorn your wise words. Do not give your attention to fools, for they will not speak wisely. Do not even eat with them, or they may be a stumbling block to you.
Proverbs 23:12-14 Apply your heart to instruction, and your ear to words of knowledge. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.
Proverbs 23:15-16 My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad, too. My inmost being will rejoice, when you speak what is right.
Proverbs 23:17-18 Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord. There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
Proverbs 23:19-21 Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path. Do not join those who drink too much wine, or they may forget what is right. Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly.
Proverbs 23:22-25 Do not give your attention to wine, which dulls your senses. Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Buy the truth and do not sell it; wisdom, knowledge, and counsel are the best of treasures.
Proverbs 23:26-28 My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes look straight on. Give me your heart, my son, and let your eyes look straight on. Do not let your heart turn to her ways, do not stray into her paths.
Proverbs 23:29-35 Who has sorrow? Who has pain? Who has bitter tears? Who has quenching of the soul? Those who go to another bed, those who eat the wages of immorality. They will drink their own wine, and stumble in their own pride. But the path of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.
