Proverbs 21 good news bible
Here are the proverbs from Proverbs 21 in the Good News Bible:
Proverbs 21:1-31
1 The king's heart is like a stream of water in the Lord's hand. He directs it wherever he wants. 2 Every way of a man seems right to him, but the Lord weighs his heart. 3 The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked. 4 A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things. 5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. 6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting mistake. 7 The violence of the wicked will drag them away, because they refuse to do what is right. 8 The way of the guilty is devious, but the upright will travel it. 9 It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife. 10 The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no justice. 11 When a scoffer is punished, the simple will become wise; when a wise man is instructed, he will gain knowledge. 12 The Righteous One knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge. 13 Even in his laziness, a sluggard is overwhelmed with poverty. 14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death. 15 Good sense wins favor, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. 16 A wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil, but a fool will expose his feelings. 17 A quick-tempered person does foolish things, and the one who plots evil is hated. 18 The simple inherit folly, but the one who is wise is crowned with knowledge. 19 The evil will bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous. 20 The poor and the oppressor have this in common: the Lord gives sight to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. 21 To the wicked, God gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth, but he takes it away from the man of integrity. 22 A wise man's inheritance is his noble birth, but a fool's inheritance is forced labor. 23 The lazy will not be able to rest, even at night; the eyes of the busy will close in peace. 24 The path of the wise leads to life, and the one who follows it will find rest. 25 A lazy person's appetite is never satisfied, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied. 26 The righteous will be bold as a lion, but the wicked will flee when no one is looking. 27 The lazy will be plundered, for they refuse to do what is right. 28 The way of the guilty is dark, but the upright will travel it, being delivered. 29 The Lord's secret wisdom is for the wise, and he reveals his words to those who understand. 30 The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out. 31 The ear that listens to the words of wisdom will be happy and wise, but the one who ignores them will be poor and foolish.
