Presidency replaces aso rock bodyguards with dss

A recent development in Nigeria!

On February 13, 2023, the Nigerian Presidency announced that it would be replacing the State House Security Unit (SHSU), also known as the Asokoro Division of the Nigeria Police Force, with the Department of State Services (DSS) as the primary security agency responsible for the protection of the President, Vice President, and their families.

The decision was made following a review of the security architecture of the Presidential Villa, also known as Aso Rock, and the need to enhance the security of the President and his family.

The SHSU, which has been responsible for the security of the Presidential Villa since 1999, will be redeployed to other duties. The DSS, which is Nigeria's primary domestic intelligence agency, will take over the responsibility of providing security for the President and his family.

This move is seen as a significant development in Nigeria's security landscape, and it remains to be seen how it will impact the country's security dynamics.
