Police Parade Five Teenage Suspected Highway Robbers in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has paraded five teenage suspected highway robbers who allegedly terrorized motorists on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The suspects, aged between 15 and 17, were arrested by the police on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at about 10:30 pm, while attempting to rob a commercial bus driver on the expressway.
According to the police, the suspects, who are all from different parts of Ogun State, were armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.
The police spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspects were arrested following a tip-off from a member of the public.
Oyeyemi said: "The suspects, who are all students, were arrested while attempting to rob a commercial bus driver on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. They were armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.
"Their modus operandi was to stop motorists on the highway, threaten them with cutlasses and other weapons, and then steal their valuables. But luck ran out for them when they were arrested by the police."
The police have charged the suspects to court for robbery and other related offenses.
The parade of the suspects was held at the Ogun State Police Command headquarters in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The police have appealed to members of the public to provide information that could lead to the arrest of other suspected robbers and criminals in the state.
