The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, identified as Olamide Adeyemi, for allegedly killing his mother, Mrs. Adeyemi Adekunle, in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yemisi Opalola, the suspect allegedly killed his mother on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at their residence in the Ile-Ife area.

The PPRO said that the suspect, who is a son of the deceased, allegedly attacked his mother with a machete and inflicted severe injuries on her. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The police spokesperson said that the suspect was arrested after a thorough investigation and that he has been charged with murder.

The Osun State Police Commissioner, Olawale Olokode, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and has assured that the suspect will be prosecuted accordingly.
