Pakistan pm nawaz sharif disqualified from office

A significant development in Pakistani politics!

On July 28, 2017, the Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from holding public office in a landmark judgment, citing corruption and misuse of power. This decision was a result of a petition filed by opposition leader Imran Khan, who accused Sharif of concealing assets and corruption.

The Panama Papers leak in 2016 had revealed that Sharif's family had invested in offshore companies and properties, which led to allegations of corruption and money laundering. The Supreme Court formed a joint investigation team (JIT) to investigate the matter, which concluded that Sharif had failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of funds used to purchase these assets.

The Supreme Court's judgment, written by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, stated that Sharif was "not honest" and had "failed to disclose his assets" as required by law. The court also ordered the seizure of Sharif's assets and properties, including his family's London properties.

As a result of the disqualification, Sharif was removed from office, and the office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan was declared vacant. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, a member of Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League (N) party, was subsequently elected as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.

This development marked a significant turning point in Pakistani politics, with far-reaching implications for the country's political landscape.
