Olawale project fame explains reason break music career

Olawale Ojo, also known as O'lawale, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who rose to fame after participating in the 2012 edition of Project Fame West Africa. After his stint on the show, he released a few singles, but eventually took a break from music. In a recent interview, he explained the reasons behind his decision to step away from music.

According to O'lawale, he took a break from music due to a combination of factors, including the harsh realities of the music industry, personal struggles, and a desire to focus on other aspects of his life.

One of the main reasons he cited was the pressure to constantly produce new music and maintain a certain level of visibility in the industry. He felt that the constant need to release new songs and music videos was taking a toll on his creativity and overall well-being.

"I was under a lot of pressure to keep producing music, and it was affecting my mental health," he said. "I felt like I was losing myself in the process. I was just trying to fit into the mold of what people expected of me, rather than being true to myself."

O'lawale also mentioned that he struggled with the commercialization of the music industry, which he felt was prioritizing profit over artistic expression. He said that he was disappointed by the lack of support from record labels and the emphasis on making money rather than creating meaningful music.

"I was disappointed by the way the industry was going," he said. "It was all about making money, and not about the music. I felt like I was just a product, rather than an artist."

In addition to these industry-related issues, O'lawale also mentioned that he was going through a personal struggle during that time. He said that he was dealing with anxiety and depression, which made it difficult for him to focus on his music.

"I was struggling with my mental health, and it was affecting my music," he said. "I didn't know how to deal with it, and it was hard for me to be creative when I was feeling that way."

After taking a break from music, O'lawale said that he focused on his mental health and well-being. He started therapy and worked on building a support system around him. He also started exploring other interests and hobbies, such as writing and photography.

"I took time to focus on myself and my mental health," he said. "I started doing things that brought me joy, like writing and photography. It was a liberating experience, and it helped me to find my passion again."

Although O'lawale is no longer actively pursuing a music career, he said that he still enjoys making music and performing. He has been involved in various music projects and collaborations over the years, and he continues to create music for his own enjoyment.

"I still make music, but it's not about the fame or the fortune anymore," he said. "It's about creating something that brings me joy and fulfillment. I'm happy to be doing what I love, even if it's not on a large scale."
