OGUN GOVERNMENT SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE ABEOKUTA ON AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT
Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria - The Ogun State Government has expressed its desire to partner with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) to drive agricultural development in the state.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Professor Kolawole Salako, at the university's headquarters in Abeokuta.
The Governor, who was accompanied by the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina, and other top government officials, commended the university for its contributions to agricultural research and development in the country.
"We believe that partnering with FUNAAB will enable us to leverage on the university's expertise and resources to drive agricultural development in Ogun State," the Governor said. "We are committed to making agriculture a major driver of our state's economy, and we believe that this partnership will help us achieve this goal."
The Governor also highlighted the state's efforts to promote agricultural development, including the establishment of the Ogun State Agricultural Development Programme (OGSADP), which aims to increase agricultural productivity and income for farmers in the state.
Professor Salako, who received the Governor and his entourage, welcomed the proposal for partnership and expressed the university's willingness to collaborate with the state government to achieve its agricultural development goals.
"We are committed to supporting the Ogun State Government in its efforts to promote agricultural development in the state," the Vice-Chancellor said. "We believe that our partnership will enable us to leverage on each other's strengths to achieve our goals and make a positive impact on the lives of our people."
The proposed partnership between Ogun State and FUNAAB is expected to focus on areas such as agricultural research, extension services, and capacity building for farmers in the state. It is also expected to promote the development of the state's agricultural sector and increase the state's agricultural productivity and income.
