NYSC Enugu State Cries Out for Assistance from State Government

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Enugu State has appealed to the Enugu State Government to provide necessary assistance to enable the corps members to effectively carry out their duties in the state.

The appeal was made by the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Salome Nwachukwu, during a meeting with the Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Chijioke Ugwu, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Awgu Local Government Area of the state.

Mrs. Nwachukwu lamented that the corps members were facing numerous challenges, including inadequate accommodation, poor infrastructure, and lack of necessary facilities, which were hindering their ability to effectively serve the state.

She appealed to the state government to provide assistance in the areas of provision of accommodation, renovation of existing facilities, and provision of necessary equipment and resources to enable the corps members to carry out their duties effectively.

The State Coordinator also appealed for the establishment of a NYSC Secretariat in the state, which would enable the corps members to have a permanent office and facilitate their activities.

In his response, Hon. Ugwu commiserated with the corps members and assured them that the state government was committed to providing necessary assistance to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.

He promised to look into the issues raised by the State Coordinator and to work with the relevant authorities to provide the necessary assistance.

The Commissioner also commended the corps members for their dedication and commitment to serving the state and urged them to continue to work hard and make a positive impact in their host communities.

The meeting was attended by other officials of the NYSC and the Enugu State Government, including the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Chidi Nwankwo.
