NYSF DG tasks corps members on self-reliance

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has tasked corps members to be self-reliant and not rely solely on government for their livelihood.

Ibrahim gave the charge during the 2022 Batch 'C' Stream II Passing Out Parade (POP) of corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja.

He said, "As you prepare to leave the camp, I want to remind you that the NYSC is not a place where you come to get a job or a means of livelihood. It is a place where you come to serve your fatherland and develop yourself.

"I want to task you to be self-reliant and not rely solely on government for your livelihood. You must be prepared to take care of yourselves and your families. You must be prepared to start your own businesses, create jobs for yourselves and others, and contribute to the development of your communities."

The DG also urged the corps members to be good ambassadors of the NYSC and Nigeria, saying, "You are the future leaders of this country, and it is your responsibility to make a positive impact on your communities and the nation at large."

He commended the corps members for their dedication and commitment to their service year, saying, "I am proud of your achievements and the impact you have made in your communities. You have demonstrated that you are capable of making a difference, and I have no doubt that you will continue to make a positive impact in your lives and in the lives of others."

The Passing Out Parade was attended by top government officials, including the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, and the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Dr. Garba Agha.
