NYSC Accuses Osun LG Chairmen of Withholding Schemes Money

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has accused Local Government Chairmen in Osun State of withholding the monthly allowance of corps members serving in the state.

According to a statement issued by the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs. Abiodun Oni, the chairmen have been deducting the allowance of the corps members without remitting the funds to the NYSC.

Oni stated that the NYSC has been receiving complaints from corps members serving in the state, alleging that their allowance has been withheld by the local government chairmen. She said that the NYSC has been investigating the matter and has found that the allegations are true.

"We have been receiving complaints from corps members serving in Osun State that their allowance has been withheld by the local government chairmen. We have investigated the matter and found that the allegations are true. The local government chairmen have been deducting the allowance of the corps members without remitting the funds to the NYSC," Oni said.

The NYSC Osun State Coordinator called on the local government chairmen to remit the withheld allowance to the NYSC immediately, adding that any further delay would be unacceptable.

"We urge the local government chairmen to remit the withheld allowance to the NYSC immediately. Any further delay would be unacceptable. We will not tolerate any form of exploitation of our corps members," Oni said.

The NYSC has also threatened to take legal action against the local government chairmen if they fail to remit the withheld allowance.

"We will not hesitate to take legal action against the local government chairmen if they fail to remit the withheld allowance. We will not tolerate any form of exploitation of our corps members," Oni said.

The NYSC has been serving corps members in Osun State since 1973, and has been providing them with a monthly allowance to enable them to carry out their duties.
