COVID-19 Updates
- As of March 15, 2023, Nigeria has recorded a total of 264,444 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 3,544 deaths and 244,900 recoveries. (Source: NCDC)
- The NCDC has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to coordinate the response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
- The centre is working with state governments and other stakeholders to enhance surveillance, contact tracing, and testing for COVID-19.
Other Public Health Issues
- The NCDC has reported an outbreak of Lassa fever in several states, including Ogun, Oyo, and Ekiti. As of March 15, 2023, there have been 1,344 confirmed cases and 143 deaths.
- The centre has also reported an outbreak of cholera in several states, including Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina. As of March 15, 2023, there have been 2,344 confirmed cases and 54 deaths.
NCDC Activities
- The NCDC has launched a new surveillance system, called the National Electronic Surveillance System (NESS), to enhance the detection and reporting of public health events.
