Notorious Armed Robbery Gang Arrested in Lagos After Killing Night Guard

In a major breakthrough, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robbery gang responsible for a series of violent robberies in the state, including the killing of a night guard.

The gang, comprising five members, was arrested on Tuesday night in the Ikorodu area of Lagos after a tip-off from a reliable source.

According to the police, the gang had been terrorizing residents of Lagos, particularly in the Ikorodu and Epe areas, for several months, robbing them of their valuables and killing anyone who dared to resist.

The gang's leader, identified as 35-year-old Chukwuemeka Okoro, was said to be a notorious armed robber who had been on the run for several years.

The police said that Okoro and his gang members were arrested after a shootout with the police at about 10:30 pm on Tuesday.

"We received a tip-off that the gang was planning to carry out a robbery operation in the Ikorodu area," said the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu. "We quickly mobilized our men to the area and engaged the gang in a shootout. Five members of the gang were arrested, including the leader, Chukwuemeka Okoro."

The police also recovered several weapons, including guns, cutlasses, and charms, from the gang members.

The police said that the gang was responsible for the killing of a night guard in the Ikorodu area last month.

"We are grateful to the public for their cooperation and support in our efforts to combat crime in the state," said Odumosu. "We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the state is safe for all residents."

The arrested gang members are currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Lagos, pending further investigation and prosecution.

The Lagos State Government has commended the police for the successful arrest of the gang and has promised to continue to support the police in their efforts to combat crime in the state.
