No messi in uefa player of the year award top three finalists
That's a surprise!
For the first time in 14 years, Lionel Messi has not made it to the top three finalists for the UEFA Men's Player of the Year award. The three finalists for the award are:
- Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City and Belgium)
- Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich and Poland)
- Jorginho (Chelsea and Italy)
This is a significant snub for Messi, who has won the award a record-breaking seven times. However, it's worth noting that the voting process is conducted by a panel of international journalists, and opinions can vary.
It's also interesting to see that Jorginho, who has had an impressive season with Chelsea, has made it to the top three for the first time. De Bruyne and Lewandowski have both had outstanding seasons, and it's no surprise to see them among the finalists.
The winner of the award will be announced on August 29, 2021.
