No Casualty in Enugu Building Collapse, Police Confirm
The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed that there was no casualty in the building collapse that occurred at a three-storey building under construction in the state.
The building, located at the popular Ogbete Main Market in Enugu, collapsed on Tuesday evening, causing panic among residents and traders in the area.
According to the police, the building was under construction when it suddenly collapsed, but fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the incident.
The police spokesperson in the state, ASP Daniel Nwoha, said in a statement that the command received a distress call about the collapse and immediately dispatched a team of officers to the scene.
Nwoha said the team found that the building had collapsed, but there were no casualties or injuries reported.
"The scene was cordoned off to prevent further damage or loss of life, and an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collapse," Nwoha said.
The police have also appealed to the public to avoid the area until the investigation is completed.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of buildings in the state, particularly those under construction. The Enugu State Government has been urged to take steps to ensure that buildings in the state are constructed with safety in mind.
