Pius Adesanmi, popular Nigerian professor and columnist based in Canada, is reportedly one of the 157 people who lost their lives in the Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed in the early hours of Sunday.

The Ethiopian Airlines flight, a Boeing 737-8, between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, crashed in the early hours of Sunday, killing 149 passengers and eight crew members aboard.
It has now emerged that Adesanmi, a native of Isanlu, in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, was among the passengers, with sources saying he was on his way to attend an African Union summit in Nairobi.
Until his death, Adesanmi was a Professor of English at Carleton University, Canada.
