Nigeria needs n1 6bn emergency funding to fight covid 19 ncdc
According to reports, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has requested an emergency funding of N1.6 billion to support the country's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The NCDC made this request to the Federal Government, citing the need for additional resources to enhance the country's preparedness and response to the pandemic. The funding is expected to be used to support various activities, including:
- Contact tracing and surveillance: N400 million
- Laboratory testing and diagnosis: N300 million
- Infection prevention and control: N200 million
- Vaccination and immunization: N300 million
- Public awareness and education: N200 million
- Research and development: N100 million
- Emergency operations center: N100 million
- Miscellaneous (including logistics, transportation, and other expenses): N200 million
The NCDC has emphasized the need for urgent funding to address the growing threat of COVID-19 in Nigeria, which has already reported over 150,000 cases and over 2,000 deaths.
It's worth noting that the NCDC has been working closely with the Federal Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other partners to respond to the pandemic, but additional funding is needed to scale up the response and ensure that Nigeria is better equipped to manage the crisis.
