Job Title: News Reader
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and experienced News Reader to join our team. As a News Reader, you will be responsible for delivering news and current events to our audience through live broadcasts, recorded segments, and online content. You will work closely with our news team to research, prepare, and present news stories in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.
Responsibilities:
- Research and prepare news stories for broadcast, including reading scripts, conducting interviews, and gathering information from various sources
- Deliver news and current events to our audience through live broadcasts, recorded segments, and online content
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of current events, news, and trends to provide informed and accurate reporting
- Collaborate with producers, reporters, and other news team members to develop and refine news stories
- Conduct interviews with guests, experts, and newsmakers to gather information and insights for news stories
- Write and edit news scripts, including headlines, summaries, and introductions
- Participate in pre-production meetings to discuss story ideas, research, and logistics
- Conduct live broadcasts, including reading news scripts, introducing segments, and interacting with guests and audience members
- Record and edit video and audio segments for online and broadcast use
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor on-air and off-air
- Meet deadlines and work under tight time constraints to deliver high-quality content
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, news, and best practices to continuously improve skills and knowledge
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in news reading, broadcasting, or related field
- Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to write clear and concise scripts
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inform audiences
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing circumstances
- Strong knowledge of current events, news, and trends
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in audio and video editing software, such as Adobe Audition and Premiere Pro
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
- Experience in live broadcasting, including news reading, anchoring, and reporting
- Knowledge of social media platforms and online content creation
- Experience with video production and editing software, such as Final Cut Pro and Avid
- Certification in broadcasting, such as the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) or the Certified Radio Operator (CRO)
