Job Summary:
The News Executive Producer is responsible for overseeing the production of news programs and ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and relevance. The Executive Producer will work closely with the News Director, anchors, reporters, and other staff members to develop and implement news strategies, manage budgets, and coordinate logistics for news coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement news strategies and story ideas in collaboration with the News Director and other senior staff members
- Oversee the production of news programs, including daily newscasts, special reports, and investigative pieces
- Manage a team of producers, reporters, and other staff members to ensure that news programs are produced on time and within budget
- Coordinate logistics for news coverage, including booking guests, arranging interviews, and securing access to events
- Ensure that news programs meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and relevance
- Manage budgets and schedules for news programs, including negotiating with vendors and suppliers
- Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and marketing, to develop promotional materials and advertising campaigns
- Develop and maintain relationships with sources, contacts, and other stakeholders to gather information and tips for news stories
- Stay up-to-date with current events and trends in the news industry, and adapt news strategies accordingly
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute to the development of news coverage
- Ensure that news programs comply with company policies and industry standards
- Manage and mentor junior producers and staff members to help them develop their skills and advance their careers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in television news production, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior producer or executive producer role
- Strong knowledge of news gathering, writing, and production techniques
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread and edit news copy
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
