New zealand provinces
New Zealand is divided into 16 regions, which are further divided into 67 territorial authorities (districts or cities). Here are the 16 regions of New Zealand:
- Auckland Region
- Bay of Plenty Region
- Canterbury Region
- Chatham Islands Region
- Gisborne Region
- Hawke's Bay Region
- Manawatu-Wanganui Region
- Marlborough Region
- Nelson Region
- Northland Region
- Otago Region
- Southland Region
- Taranaki Region
- Tasman Region
- Waikato Region
- Wellington Region
Prior to 1989, New Zealand was divided into 4 provinces:
- Auckland Province
- Bay of Islands Province
- Canterbury Province
- Otago Province
These provinces were abolished in 1989 and replaced with the current regional structure.
