New Zealand has a points-based system for skilled migration, known as the Skilled Migrant Category (SMC). To be eligible for residency in New Zealand, you must meet the following requirements:
Age:
- You must be under 56 years old at the time of applying for residency.
- If you are 56 or older, you may still be eligible if you have a high level of skills, qualifications, and work experience.
English Language:
- You must have a good understanding of English, which is tested through a language proficiency test such as IELTS or TOEFL.
- The minimum scores required are:

- You must also have a good understanding of your job and the industry you are applying to.
Qualifications:
- You must have a recognized qualification that is relevant to your occupation.
- The qualification must be from a recognized institution and must be equivalent to a New Zealand bachelor's degree or higher.
Points System:
- You must score at least 160 points out of 180 to be eligible for residency.
- The points are awarded based on your:
- Age (up to 30 points)
- English language ability (up to 30 points)
- Work experience (up to 30 points)
- Qualifications (up to 30 points)
- Job offer in New Zealand (up to 30 points)
- Other factors (up to 20 points)
Job Offer:
- You must have a job offer in New Zealand that is in your occupation and meets the requirements of the New Zealand labour market.
- The job offer must be for a minimum of 30 hours per week and must be for a minimum of 2 years.
Health and Character:
- You must meet the health and character requirements for residency in New Zealand.
- You will need to undergo a medical examination and provide police certificates from your home country and any countries where you have lived for 5 years or more.
Other Requirements:
- You must have a good understanding of New Zealand's culture and way of life.
- You must be willing to integrate into New Zealand society and contribute to the country's economy and community.
