The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the NASDAQ stock market have different opening and closing times. Here are the current market hours:

New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)

• Trading hours: 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday
• Pre-market trading: 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM ET
• After-hours trading: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET (limited to certain stocks and options)

NASDAQ

Other markets

• The American Stock Exchange (AMEX) and the NYSE Arca (formerly the Pacific Exchange) have similar trading hours to the NYSE.
• The CBOE (Chicago Board Options Exchange) and the CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) have different trading hours, typically from 8:30 AM to 3:15 PM CT (Central Time).
