The international dialing code for New York is:
1-212 (for Manhattan and the Bronx)
1-718 (for Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island)
1-917 (for cell phones and some business lines)
Note that these codes are for the five boroughs of New York City, and may not be applicable for other areas in the state of New York.
When calling from outside the United States, you would dial the international access code (011), followed by the country code for the United States (+1), followed by the area code and phone number.
For example, to call a phone number in Manhattan, you would dial:
011 + 1 + 212 + phone number
To call a phone number in Brooklyn, you would dial:
011 + 1 + 718 + phone number
And so on.
