New year prayer 2019 catholic
Here is a sample New Year's prayer for 2019, inspired by Catholic traditions and prayers:
Prayer for the New Year
Dear Lord,
As we stand at the threshold of a new year, we come before you with gratitude and hope. We thank you for the blessings of the past year, for the joys and challenges that have shaped us into the people we are today.
As we look to the future, we ask for your guidance and wisdom. Help us to set aside our fears and doubts, and to trust in your plan for our lives. May we be open to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, and may we be willing to take risks and step out in faith.
May this new year be a time of growth and renewal for us, a time to deepen our relationship with you and with one another. May we be a source of joy and hope to those around us, and may we be a light in the darkness.
We pray for the world, dear Lord, that it may be a place of peace and justice, where all people can live in harmony and dignity. May your kingdom come, and may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
We also pray for our families, our friends, and our communities, that they may be blessed with love, laughter, and prosperity. May we be a source of strength and support for one another, and may we be a beacon of hope in a world that often seems dark and uncertain.
Finally, we pray for ourselves, dear Lord, that we may be a source of joy and gratitude to you. May we be mindful of the many blessings we have received, and may we be willing to share them with others. May we be a reflection of your love and mercy, and may we be a light that shines brightly in the world.
We pray this in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Additional Prayers and Reflections
- The Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola: "Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will. All I have and call my own, you have given me. I return it all to you, that I may be able to love you more freely and serve you more faithfully."
- The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi: "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy."
- Reflection: As we begin this new year, what are some areas of our lives where we need to let go of fear and doubt, and trust in God's plan? What are some ways we can be a source of joy and hope to others? How can we deepen our relationship with God and with one another in the coming year?
May God bless you and your loved ones in the coming year.
