New world translation john 1
Here is the New World Translation (NWT) of John 1:
- In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.
- This one was in the beginning with God.
- All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not one thing came into existence. What has come into existence through him is life, and the life was the light of men.
- And the light shines on, and the darkness did not overpower it.
- And there was a man sent forth by God, whose name was John.
- This one came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, so that all might believe through him.
- He was not the light, but he came to bear witness about the light.
- There was the true light, which shines on and makes all men see.
- He was in the world, and the world came into existence through him, and the world did not know him.
- He came to his own, but his own people did not receive him.
- But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name.
- These are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you might have life in his name.
