New uk post study work visa
The new UK Post-Study Work Visa!
As of August 2021, the UK government has introduced a new visa route for international students who have completed their studies in the UK. The Post-Study Work Visa allows eligible students to stay in the UK for up to 2 years after completing their degree to gain work experience and build their careers.
Here are the key details:
Eligibility:
- You must have completed a degree-level qualification (e.g., Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) from a UK university.
- You must have been awarded a degree that is at least 12 months long.
- You must have been studying in the UK on a valid student visa.
Application process:
- You will need to apply for the Post-Study Work Visa online, using the UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) application portal.
- You will need to provide biometric data (fingerprints) and pay the application fee (£700 for a 2-year visa).
- You will need to provide evidence of your qualifications, including your degree certificate and transcript.
- You will need to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay in the UK (£945 in your bank account for at least 90 days).
Work restrictions:
- You will be allowed to work in any job, including self-employment, as long as it is not a job that requires a license or registration with a professional body.
- You will not be able to work as a doctor, dentist, or nurse, or in any job that requires a degree-level qualification.
- You will not be able to work as a teacher or lecturer, unless you have a relevant degree and are working for a UK university.
Other benefits:
- You will be able to bring your partner and children with you to the UK, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.
- You will be able to apply for settlement (indefinite leave to remain) in the UK after 5 years of continuous residence.
- You will be able to apply for British citizenship after 6 years of continuous residence.
Important notes:
- The Post-Study Work Visa is only available to students who have completed their studies in the UK before 1 July 2021.
- The visa is subject to change, and the UK government may introduce new rules or restrictions at any time.
- You should check the UKVI website for the most up-to-date information and to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria.
