The new TOEFL format!

As of August 2019, the TOEFL test has undergone significant changes to better assess test-takers' English language skills. Here's a brief overview of the new format:

Test Structure:

  1. Reading: 54-72 minutes, 36-56 questions
  2. Listening: 41-57 minutes, 34-51 questions
  3. Speaking: 17-23 minutes, 6 tasks
  4. Writing: 50 minutes, 2 tasks

New Features:

  1. Integrated Tasks: In the Speaking and Writing sections, you'll encounter integrated tasks that require you to use information from multiple sources (e.g., a reading passage and a listening audio).
  2. Independent Tasks: In the Writing section, you'll have one independent task that allows you to express your opinion on a topic.
  3. Speaking Tasks: The Speaking section now includes more nuanced tasks that require you to discuss, describe, and explain topics.
  4. Digital Format: The test is now administered on a computer, and you'll use a digital pen to record your speaking responses.
