New service chiefs

Here are the new service chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces:

Indian Army

• General Manoj Mukund Naravane (Chief of the Army Staff) - took over on December 31, 2019

Indian Navy

• Admiral Karambir Singh (Chief of the Naval Staff) - took over on May 31, 2019

Indian Air Force

• Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria (Chief of the Air Staff) - took over on September 30, 2018

Indian Coast Guard

• Director General Rajendra Singh (Director General, Indian Coast Guard) - took over on February 1, 2020

Note: The service chiefs are appointed by the Government of India and serve for a fixed tenure, usually 3 years.
