New rules for change of date of birth in passport

The rules for changing the date of birth in a passport have been updated by the Indian government. Here are the new rules:

Who can apply:

• Indian citizens who want to change their date of birth in their passport.
• The applicant must be a citizen of India.

Eligibility criteria:

• The applicant must be a citizen of India.
• The applicant must have a valid passport.
• The applicant must have a valid reason for changing their date of birth (e.g. correction of error, change of name, etc.).

Documents required:

• Original passport.
• Proof of date of birth (e.g. birth certificate, school leaving certificate, etc.).
• Proof of identity (e.g. Aadhaar card, voter ID card, etc.).
• Proof of address (e.g. utility bill, bank statement, etc.).
• Affidavit (in the prescribed format) explaining the reason for changing the date of birth.

Procedure:

1. Fill out the application form (Form No. 2) and attach the required documents.
2. Submit the application form and documents to the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in person.
3. Pay the application fee (currently Rs. 1,500 for normal service and Rs. 3,000 for tatkaal service).
4. The application will be processed and the passport will be issued with the changed date of birth.

Important notes:

• The changed date of birth will be reflected in the new passport.
• The old passport will be cancelled and returned to the applicant.
• The applicant must surrender their old passport to the authorities.
• The changed date of birth will not be reflected in any other government records or documents.
