- Omeprazole-sodium bicarbonate (Zegerid): Approved by the FDA in 2003, Omeprazole-sodium bicarbonate is a PPI that is used to treat GERD and other conditions. It works by blocking the action of hydrogen ions in the stomach, reducing acid production.
- Pantoprazole-sodium (Protonix): Approved by the FDA in 2000, Pantoprazole-sodium is a PPI that is used to treat GERD and other conditions. It works by blocking the action of hydrogen ions in the stomach, reducing acid production.
- Lansoprazole (Prevacid): Approved by the FDA in 1995, Lansoprazole is a PPI that is used to treat GERD and other conditions. It works by blocking the action of hydrogen ions in the stomach, reducing acid production.
- Rabeprazole (Aciphex): Approved by the FDA in 2000, Rabeprazole is a PPI that is used to treat GERD and other conditions. It works by blocking the action of hydrogen ions in the stomach, reducing acid production.
- Esomeprazole (Nexium): Approved by the FDA in 2001, Esomeprazole is a PPI that is used to treat GERD and other conditions. It works by blocking the action of hydrogen ions in the stomach, reducing acid production.
- Pantoprazole (Protonix): Approved by the FDA in 2000, Pantoprazole is a PPI that is used to treat GERD and other conditions. It works by blocking the action of hydrogen ions in the stomach, reducing acid production.
- Riluzole (Rilutek): Approved by the FDA in 1995, Riluzole is a PPI that is used to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). It works by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme glutamate dehydrogenase.
- Vilazodone (Viibryd): Approved by the FDA in 2011, Vilazodone is a PPI that is used to treat major depressive disorder. It works by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme serotonin.
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, and new PPI drugs are being developed and approved regularly. Additionally, the use of PPIs should be guided by a healthcare professional and should be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
