New period dramas

A new obsession waiting to happen! Here are some new period dramas that have caught my attention:

  1. The Great (2020) - A Hulu original series starring Elle Fanning as Catherine the Great, the Empress of Russia.
  2. Bridgerton (2020) - A Netflix series based on Julia Quinn's novels, set in Regency-era London and following the lives of the eight Bridgerton siblings.
  3. The Last Kingdom (2020) - A Netflix series based on Bernard Cornwell's novels, set in 9th-century England and following the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg, a Saxon boy captured and raised by Vikings.
  4. The Spanish Princess (2019) - A Starz series based on Philippa Gregory's novels, telling the story of Catherine of Aragon, the first wife of Henry VIII.
  5. Victoria (2019) - A PBS Masterpiece series, the third season of which explores the reign of Queen Victoria in the 1850s.
  6. Sanditon (2019) - A PBS Masterpiece series, an adaptation of Jane Austen's unfinished novel, set in the late 18th century in the seaside town of Sanditon.
  7. The Rook (2019) - A Starz series based on Daniel O'Malley's novel, set in modern-day London and following the story of a young woman who discovers she has supernatural powers.
