The new board members were appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari, following the approval of the Senate. The appointments were aimed at repositioning the NNPC for greater efficiency and effectiveness in the management of the country's oil and gas resources.

It's worth noting that the NNPC is a parastatal organization under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, and its board members are responsible for overseeing the corporation's operations and ensuring that it is managed in a transparent and accountable manner.
