New Nigeria Passport Design (2020)
The new Nigerian passport design features a more modern and secure layout, with several improvements to enhance its security features and make it more difficult to counterfeit. Here are some of the key features of the new passport design:
Front Cover:
- The front cover features the Nigerian coat of arms, which is a combination of the country's national symbols, including the eagle, the lion, and the palm tree.
- The passport number is printed in a unique font and is located at the top of the cover.
- The words "Federal Republic of Nigeria" are printed in bold letters at the bottom of the cover.
Data Page:
- The data page features a biometric chip that stores the holder's biometric data, including their fingerprints and facial recognition information.
- The page also includes the holder's personal details, such as their name, date of birth, nationality, and passport number.
- The page is printed with a unique hologram that is difficult to replicate.
Security Features:
- The passport features several security features to prevent counterfeiting, including:
- A hologram that changes color when tilted.
- A micro-printed pattern that is difficult to replicate.
- A UV-sensitive ink that glows under ultraviolet light.
- A foil strip that is embedded with a unique pattern.
Other Features:
- The passport has 32 pages, with 28 pages for visa stamps and 4 pages for endorsements.
- The passport is valid for 10 years for adults and 5 years for children under the age of 16.
- The passport is issued by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and is available for application at NIS offices and designated centers.
