New nigeria money

You're referring to the new Nigerian currency, the Naira!

In 2023, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) introduced a new series of banknotes and coins to replace the old ones. Here are the details:

New Banknotes:

  1. N50 note: Features a portrait of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, a Nigerian statesman and philosopher.
  2. N100 note: Features a portrait of Dr. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, a Nigerian statesman and leader of the Biafran secessionist movement.
  3. N200 note: Features a portrait of Dr. Muhammadu Buhari, the current President of Nigeria.
  4. N500 note: Features a portrait of Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo, a former President of Nigeria.
  5. N1,000 note: Features a portrait of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, a former President of Nigeria.

New Coins:

  1. 50 Kobo coin: Features a portrait of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
  2. N1 coin: Features a portrait of Dr. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
  3. N2 coin: Features a portrait of Dr. Muhammadu Buhari.
  4. N5 coin: Features a portrait of Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo.

The new currency was introduced to combat counterfeiting and to make it easier to identify genuine banknotes. The new notes and coins also feature advanced security features, such as watermarks, holograms, and micro-printing, to prevent counterfeiting.

It's worth noting that the old currency is still being accepted, but the CBN has encouraged banks and financial institutions to phase out the old notes and coins in favor of the new ones.
