New national minimum wage table
Here is the new national minimum wage table in the United States, effective January 1, 2022:
Federal Minimum Wage
- $7.25 per hour (no change from 2021)
Tipped Employees
- $2.13 per hour (no change from 2021)
Youth Minimum Wage
- $4.25 per hour for employees under 20 years old (no change from 2021)
Minimum Wage for Tipped Employees in Certain States
- Some states have higher minimum wages for tipped employees, which may be higher than the federal minimum wage. For example:
- California: $14.00 per hour
- New York: $12.50 per hour
- Washington: $12.00 per hour
Minimum Wage for Small Employers
- Employers with 25 or fewer employees may be exempt from the federal minimum wage requirements, but must pay at least the state minimum wage.
Note: These rates are subject to change, and some states may have their own minimum wage laws that are higher than the federal minimum wage.
It's also important to note that some cities and counties may have their own minimum wage laws, which may be higher than the state or federal minimum wage. For example:
- San Francisco, California: $16.32 per hour
- Seattle, Washington: $16.39 per hour
- New York City, New York: $15.00 per hour
It's always a good idea to check with your employer or local government to determine the minimum wage requirements in your area.
