New month sermon

Here's a sample sermon for the first Sunday of a new month:

Title: "A Fresh Start: Embracing the Possibilities of a New Month"

Text: Psalm 90:12-17

Introduction:

As we gather here today, we're standing at the threshold of a new month. A fresh start, a clean slate, a chance to leave the past behind and look towards the future with hope and anticipation. But as we embark on this new journey, we're reminded that the journey itself is not just about the destination, but about the journey itself. It's about the choices we make, the habits we form, and the relationships we nurture along the way.

The Psalmist's Prayer:

In Psalm 90, the psalmist prays to God, "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." (v. 12) What does it mean to number our days? It means to be mindful of the preciousness of time, to recognize that each day is a gift from God, and to make the most of it. It means to prioritize what's truly important, to focus on what brings joy and fulfillment, and to let go of what's holding us back.

The Power of a Fresh Start:

A new month is a reminder that we have the power to start anew. We can leave behind the mistakes of the past, the regrets, the what-ifs, and the if-onlys. We can start fresh, with a clean slate, and a heart full of hope. We can choose to focus on the present moment, to live in the now, and to trust that God is with us every step of the way.

The Importance of Community:

But we don't have to do it alone. We're not meant to be isolated individuals, but rather members of a community, a family, a body of believers. We need each other, we need to support each other, to encourage each other, and to hold each other accountable. We need to be there for each other, to lift each other up, and to celebrate each other's successes.

The Call to Action:

So as we embark on this new month, I want to leave you with a few questions to ponder:

Conclusion:

A new month is a fresh start, a chance to begin again, to start anew. But it's not just about us, it's about the people around us, and the community we're a part of. Let's make the most of this new month, let's make it count, and let's do it together.
