New crs score
You're referring to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score!
The CRS score is a points-based system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to assess the eligibility of Express Entry candidates. The score is calculated based on the following factors:
- Language skills: 28 points (English and/or French)
- Education: 25 points (highest level of education completed)
- Work experience: 15 points (years of work experience in a specific field)
- Age: 12 points (candidate's age)
- Language ability in the second official language: 6 points (if applicable)
- Education credential recognition: 15 points (if the candidate's education is recognized by a Canadian authority)
- Arranged employment in Canada: 10 points (if the candidate has a job offer in Canada)
- Provincial nomination: 600 points (if the candidate has been nominated by a Canadian province)
The maximum CRS score is 1,200 points. The score is used to rank candidates in the Express Entry pool and invite the top-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residence.
Here's a rough breakdown of the CRS score ranges and their corresponding invitation rounds:
- High-scoring candidates (1,000+ points): Typically invited in the first few rounds
- Mid-scoring candidates (700-999 points): Invited in subsequent rounds
- Lower-scoring candidates (600-699 points): May be invited in later rounds or may not be invited at all
Keep in mind that the CRS score is just one factor in the Express Entry process. IRCC also considers other factors, such as the candidate's job offer, language proficiency, and adaptability, when making an invitation to apply for permanent residence.
