New cingular wireless
A blast from the past!
New Cingular Wireless was a wireless telecommunications company that operated in the United States from 2001 to 2010. It was a subsidiary of AT&T Wireless Services, which was acquired by Cingular Wireless in 2000.
Here's a brief history:
- 2000: Cingular Wireless acquired AT&T Wireless Services, which included its wireless network and assets.
- 2001: Cingular Wireless rebranded its network as New Cingular Wireless, adopting the "New" prefix to differentiate itself from the original AT&T Wireless.
- 2004: Cingular Wireless acquired AT&T Corporation, which included its wireline and wireless assets. The company dropped the "New" prefix and became simply Cingular Wireless.
- 2010: AT&T acquired T-Mobile USA, and Cingular Wireless was merged into AT&T Mobility, which became the primary brand for AT&T's wireless services.
During its existence, New Cingular Wireless operated on the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz frequency bands, offering a range of wireless services, including voice, text, and data. The company was known for its "Can you hear me now?" advertising campaign, which featured actor Paul Marcarelli as the "Test Man" character.
Although New Cingular Wireless is no longer a separate entity, its legacy lives on as part of AT&T Mobility, which continues to operate as one of the largest wireless telecommunications companies in the United States.
