As of 2021, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) is Justice Olukayode Ariwoola. He was sworn in as the 17th Chief Justice of Nigeria on May 27, 2020, following the retirement of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad.

Justice Ariwoola was born on August 22, 1958, in Iseyin, Oyo State, Nigeria. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1980 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1981.
