Nasarawa govt says 80 percent teachers unqualified

A concerning issue!

According to reports, the Nasarawa State Government has revealed that about 80% of teachers in the state's public schools are unqualified. This is a significant problem that affects the quality of education in the state.

The state's Commissioner for Education, Hon. Ahmed Tukur, made this disclosure during a meeting with stakeholders in Lafia, the state capital. He stated that the government is working to address the issue by recruiting and training qualified teachers to replace the unqualified ones.

The commissioner attributed the high percentage of unqualified teachers to the lack of proper recruitment processes in the past, which led to the employment of individuals who did not meet the required qualifications.

This is a serious issue that requires immediate attention. Unqualified teachers can negatively impact the quality of education, leading to poor academic performance, lack of motivation, and a lack of confidence in the education system.

The Nasarawa State Government's efforts to address this issue are commendable, and it is hoped that the recruitment and training of qualified teachers will lead to improved educational outcomes in the state.

It is also important to note that this issue is not unique to Nasarawa State, and many other states in Nigeria face similar challenges. Therefore, it is essential for the federal and state governments to work together to address the issue of teacher quality and ensure that all students have access to quality education.
