- Features a portrait of O. E. Hassan, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria
- Has a brown color scheme
- Has a unique security thread with a windowed thread that glows blue when held under UV light
- Has a 3D effect of the CBN logo on the front side
The new notes have several security features to prevent counterfeiting, including:

- Security thread
- Raised printing
- Microprinting
- Color-shifting ink

The CBN has also introduced a new design for the naira symbol (₦) to make it more distinct and easily recognizable.
