Mugabe granted immunity resignation deal
I think there may be some misinformation here.
Robert Mugabe, the former President of Zimbabwe, did not receive immunity from prosecution in exchange for his resignation. In fact, Mugabe's resignation on November 21, 2017, was a result of a military coup and intense pressure from the Zimbabwean military, opposition parties, and the international community.
After Mugabe's resignation, the new government of Zimbabwe, led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, announced that Mugabe would not be granted immunity from prosecution for any crimes he may have committed during his 37-year rule. Mugabe was accused of human rights abuses, corruption, and economic mismanagement, among other allegations.
In fact, in 2019, the Zimbabwean government announced that it would prosecute Mugabe for corruption and abuse of power, and that he would not be granted immunity from prosecution. Mugabe's wife, Grace Mugabe, was also accused of corruption and abuse of power, and she was granted diplomatic immunity by the government, but she was not granted immunity from prosecution.
It's worth noting that Mugabe's resignation was seen as a significant turning point in Zimbabwe's history, marking the end of his authoritarian rule and the beginning of a new era of political reform and economic recovery.
